Belinzona

 
Our visit to Swiss Miniature in Melide gave us inspiration for some other places we wanted to visit. One of those was Belinzona, less than an hour (by car) north of Melide.
Belinzona is a small town in the valley towards the St. Gotthard pass and served as the main defense to protect the trade route towards the north. Three castles and a wall were built to defend the pass.
