Selva Verde
Selva Verde is a small reserve in a tropical rain forest.
When we arrived at the reserve there was no guide available and we were advised we could take the 2 hour walk by ourselves. After about 1 hour we encountered a yellow viper (7th picture below) lazily enjoying the morning sun. Because the path was a narrow and elevated above the wet forest floor, we couldn't just walk by and risk getting bitten by a scared snake. And since we didn't want to go back we used a long stick to gently remove it from our path. To our suprise the snake didn't mind at all and let itself to be lifted by the stick and slid lazily into the bush.
Not far from our first encounter, we came upon another snake (next picture after the yellow viper). Using the same (now proven) technique we removed it from our path and continued onwards.
After having removed to snakes, the next encounter, a large spider in a web across our path, was no match. Unfortunately, we had to ruin its web.
At least we had the feeling we were really in the jungle....
