Monterey and Carmel
From San Francisco we drove south along the coast to Monterey. We had lunch on the pier, visited Carmel (once a pitoresque village, now a caricature of itself with more tourists and tourist shops than anything else), and the Monterey Bat Aquarium. The aquarium, although having a high entry fee, was well worth the visit. It has several large (2-story) fish tanks and many smaller tanks with a large variety of different aquatic life. Kyrah especially liked the jellyfishes.
